Congratulations to Jim Harvey on his induction into the South Jersey Soccer Hall of Fame on November 14, 2001. More pictures
Jim Harvey was born in Garelochhead, Scotland, in 1943 and started playing soccer at the age of eight.
His love for the game continued as Jim played for Maddiston United
until he was 20, and then continued for various clubs, including
Falkirk, as a semi-professional up to age 34.
From 1972 through 1976 Jim was a player coach for Grangemouth
United in Scotland. Immigrating to America with his wife Maureen,
and son James, in April of 1977, and settling in Somers Point.
It didn't take him long to get involved as he started the
Atlantic City Football Club, and joined the South Jersey
amateur soccer league. Playing in all divisions and moving to
the first division within five years, and winning the State cup
in 1984-85 season.
Jim has helped coached the youth of Somers Point and continues
to play today, for Winslow UK in the South Jersey Masters League.
In 1991 he joined the US Soccer Federation as a referee and was
awarded the referee of the year in 1994.
His dedication and commitment to the game earned him three state
cup finals at the College of New Jersey. He is also a founding
member of the ACCSOA referee as VP in 1992.
